| Didn't want to do this but I'm sure some people noticed that tags have crumbled into nothing from my side.
Thing is, serious rl issues showed up, rang my doorbell and are now camping out on my doorstep and refuse to leave. And they are most likely going to take a while to solve.
Thanks for the fun Vatheon, even if it only lasted for a short time.

PLOT
✗ This is going to get a little complicated, so stay with us, Vatheonites.
As midnight hits the bubble, things begin to change. All people know that midnight is the witching hour, and with this and the glowing of the coral, the foreigners' markings briefly flashing blue in response, everything shifts. Think something a little like this, if you need a visual. Everything in Vatheon has changed. Where once there were houses, now there are mysterious ruins. The forest quadrant is now a tangled, fairy-tale-esque wood; be careful, there are fairy tale creatures there as well. Some houses are made of gingerbread--some have changed to straw and mud. The Station Master's house is now a magnificent castle--next to it there is the elevator, only it is an elevator no more. Now it is a giant beanstalk. That's right; the island can no longer be accessed for this week. Anyone who was up on the island would have felt an irresistible need to touch the coral by midnight, so nobody was left up there!
The carnival is now filled with thorns and thistles and a few mysterious towers--a witch cackles there while a few unfortunate foreigners have disappeared into said towers. The pirate ship is much the same, but now the pirates are much angrier and much more willing to try to stick a sword in you. You can go hunting for loot there, but all of the treasure chests are empty...and yet it seems as though you are racking up "points" anyway. What's that all about?
Basically, any fairy tale that might have been used? There is something from that world in Vatheon. Vatheon is now a giant conglomeration of tales. That means everything has changed. Suddenly, all of the mirrors in Vatheon will comment on your appearance (and probably not very nicely, either, if you're not the fairest of them all). Suddenly, the natives are fairies, or trolls, or just woodsmen who are Not Very Nice.
What of the characters? At the strike of midnight they find themselves dressed or changed entirely for their role, and they're not going to find any other clothes in the bubble this week. If they are a faun, they now sport goat legs, for instance, and there's no going back now. But that's alright, right? It's just a minor thing. Just a few changes. They might feel a tug to act a bit different than usual, but otherwise--
At least, at first. But then, as the week goes on, things change. The characters begin to lose themselves in the tales; they are their persona, their role, and nothing will shake them out of it. They start to forget their past, where they came from, and even Vatheon itself. They'll remember their friends and the people they know, but it's as if they met in a fairy tale and have lived in a fairy tale all their lives. It's all very confusing, isn't it? And also slightly concerning.
But never fear! There's a shred of hope amidst all of the confusion.
There is some royalty amongst the foreigners now. These pairs will have a tiara (princesses) and a crown (princes). The princesses will, however, have all been kidnapped. Alas, this seems to be a fairy tale trend, but never fear! There might be some clues as to what they need to do to proceed from here. And it might just save everyone by the stroke of midnight next Sunday. At the very least, the princes and princesses will know that they are (suddenly) royalty. And they will act as such, especially as the week goes on. But don't worry. There might be some clues given as to what's going to happen next.
For these pairs of princes and princesses, everyone will get the chance to get involved; the ones who are royalty and in ~true love~ have already been chosen and know who they are. However, there will be a mingling log set up in which everyone can help out...because they will probably need help. One does not just go single-handedly fighting a dragon, after all. While only the "prince" can save the "princess", everyone can fight, everyone can explore and everyone can interact to help (or hinder) said prince. It'll earn you some sweet loot, too! The log can be found here!
It doesn't look like the curse intends to just stop. It looks like something will have to break this one...and hopefully before all of the foreigners have forgotten who they are.
And there will be even more unusual quests of all sorts going on this week. Perhaps granny needs some bread. Perhaps there is something to be stolen from within the pirate nest or from the dragon's treasure, or is there a sword hiding in the lake...? Be creative! There are plenty more options here that we just haven't listed!
And it seems that with each completed quest, well...your character might feel just a bit more heroic. What's that all about?
Well actually--it's connected to loot. What's a tale without some treasure? The more quests and heroic deeds your character does (or evil deeds if your character is an evil person), the more loot they will have earned by the end of the curse. What does that loot consist of?
...Well, you'll see. And as always, use the tag for any related posts--this curse's tag is "!curse: twenty six". And this curse is optional, just like all curses, though Vatheon is a fairy tale world to everyone now.

As always, if there are any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to post below or contact Cal, Dees or Thorny! |

| More of a heads up than a permission post, and I'm doing it here since it just has to do with this curse and more people are likely to see it, but you might have noticed that Zelos is a beautiful, fanciful, and female unicorn. Now I'm playing this like The Last Unicorn and he will be turning into a maiden about midweek, but until then there's a few logistical things I'd like to say. - As a unicorn, only virgins and those who have innocent hearts (or a very very strong magical connection) can see Zelos's shining horn and ethereal glow. To everyone else, Zelos will just appear as a white horse with a red mane.
- Zelos can still speak, but the way the speech works is it's directly into you character's mind. It's completely non-invasive though. The way I've described it is it's like listening with something other than your ears. The voice is decidedly feminine, but the speech patterns (at least until the memory loss starts to kick in) are very obviously Zelos.
So what I'm asking for here is a little help. If you intend for your character to interact with Zelos from any time between now and Wednesday, please be aware of this! I don't want to have to ask everyone pre-thread if their character is a virgin, lmao. |
