Whoo! Ahhh! We know you're excited. The natives (also the judges in this case) randomized the teams and came up with this. Complete with betta fish to go along with the theme. Be proud of your team's betta! These teams are announced today, with the bolded character as the randomly chosen team captain. This team captain will be the one reporting who wins or loses the events to us just to avoid clutter, but ICly, characters are welcome to vie for leadership or compete to be leader. Hey, nobody ever said this team thing was easy. Results for events will be posted here; we're leaving it up to you guys to fill out those forms to help us out in deciding on winners! You can post to that at any time. You don't have to have finished threading out the event in order to post, and in fact, we'd prefer you didn't just for expediency. The deadline for posting to that post is July 18th. You're welcome to use this post to chat with teammates and plot things out! Just leave any questions in the questions thread so we can find them more easily! As a refresher, here are your fish olympics events. A calendar of events can be found here. We will be posting multiple logs for said events so that you can thread team shenanigans and cross-team shenanigans, so keep an eye out for those, starting with a mingling log tonight for the beginning of the fish olympics. On Wednesday, a log will be posted for the beginning events through Friday's events, on Saturday a second log for the events up to Monday and on Tuesday a final log with the remainder of the events. If you've got anything special for said events, make sure to make them happen in said logs! For example, if you intend to have two characters get into a fight before the betta race, Tuesday's log is the place to make it happen. Of course, characters are welcome to post their own reactions to the craziness, but for ease of playing this out, logs will be made available. As the calendar shows, the olympics events themselves will go from Wednesday, July 11th to Wednesday July 18th. Results will hopefully follow soon after. Who knows what sort of prizes the winners will get? Overall, just have fun with this! It's a competition, but who knows what zany things could happen? Part of the fun is in the craziness, so go wild! i've followed prior example because i'm lazy and created us a GOOGLEDOC to organize all of the finnicky details in since it would be an overall more efficient way than either plurk or aim or the like. feel free to throw in your input either there or in reply to this if it's easier for you that way, and i'll keep track of decisions based on discussion if that's convenient for everyone? Y/N IS THIS GOOD FOR ALL?

Not the team leader (despite however much Karkat would want to be), but just tossing this up here as a place to plot and organize.

And for further organizing/getting the links in a neat list instead of having to dig through the text above:

So, if everyone could list their character's willingness to participate in each event and how they would do if they did, that should help in sorting out who should participate for each/overall results. I'll do the same for Karkat in a reply to this comment.

As for Karkat and the various events -

Paint water ball - full team
Karkat would not actually be terrible at this one, and willing enough even if it didn't already require everyone. He's fought together with other people before pretty effectively; the main difference is the paint water balls.

Fly fish skiing - 2 participants
Absolutely terrible and he would be adamantly against this, since he can't swim. Even if they somehow did wrestle him onto a fish he probably wouldn't make it through the whole race, and spend the whole thing screaming.

Sand castle building - 1 to 5 participants
If his role is limited to collecting sand/digging/miscellaneous stuff like that, he'll be good. Otherwise his artistic "skills" (he has none) would wreck the thing.

Swimming race - 1 participant
Nope. He can't swim, so he can't do it, and he would refuse to even try because he doesn't want to drown.

Shark wrestling - 3 tries, up to team whether same or different participant
Only if you want your ear drums busted out from the yelling. He would also refuse this, because what do you think he is, insane?

Squid painting - 1 participant
Warning for big flashy gif, but let me show you how well Karkat draws. See that doodle in the bottom right corner? Yeah. You don't want him to do this.

Sea-horse polo - 3 participants
Karkat would probably suck at this too, if only because he'd be more focused on not falling off the seahorse than the actual game. Involve him at your own risk.

Jellyfish volley ball - 4 participants
He's never played volleyball before of any sort, and there would doubtlessly be much yelling about the screaming, but... I don't think he'd be outright terrible. He's got reflexes enough from combat that he could watch what's going on, but he wouldn't be notably great either.

Fishy poetry - 1 to 5 participants
If they make him do this, he won't even try. Poetry is stupid, as far as he's concerned.

Betta believe it betta race - 1 to 5 participants
His one real objection would be that it can't stay at his place, since he lives with another competitor (Eridan, who's on Team Two). His idea of "training" the fish would be yelling at it about the importance of winning and to go kick the other fishes' asses, metaphorically speaking.

Vatheon Extreme Triathlon - 3 participants
He might be convinced into this if no once forces him to do the swimming part, because as said before, he can't. He wouldn't want to do the climbing either because what if he falls or something? No thank you. Best bet would be the last leg of it, though there would still be lots of complaining. So if you want to send a shrieking teenage boy down a zipline, then make him run to the beach? Go for it.
