Superhero curse catch all plotting post
As requested, everybody is free to use this post as a catch all plotting post for the upcoming curse. We've noticed that people have already started to put together their basic concepts, or are starting to look for people to perhaps involve in their backstories, so please, use this post as you see fit to get help if you are still torn between concepts and would like some help, perhaps find people who you would like to team up with (or form a superhero rivalry with) or would like to see if there are others out there who have similar ideas as yours which would perhaps lead to cool future plotting, go right ahead!
Personally our suggestion is that if you have already started to put together your basic concepts, post what you have of your AU already in a comment to this post, and then everybody can see what sort of ideas are already out there, and perhaps find people they want to create a AU with together or start plotting with already for next week.
Not everyone who signs up to be a villain will be chosen, so please remember to make a hero back story too, just in case!
Success to you all and remember

An aspiring young designer, Kanaya first got her chance to break into the fashion industry when she scored a spot on the hit reality TV show "Project Extreme Runway Say Yes to the Fashion Police Makeover for the Straight Guy/Girl". She was doing well, and even made it to the finals. In the last competition the judges were split 50-50, until the surprise celebrity judge was called in to break the tie. A rapper name Vanilla Ice Cube Tea came out to thunderous audience applause, and declare Kanaya's designs "Simplistic tripe. Minimalist to the point of boredom, these outfits are shallow and uninspired." The additional judge awarded the show to her haute couture competitor.
Losing to the octopus dress was bad enough, but to receive those comments from a guy in a hoodie with shorts set below his knees? It drove her insane. Clearly, people do not understand fashion, and it's time somebody did something about it.
After, of course, destroying her competitor's clothing line and assaulting the celebrity judge, she turned her attention on the world at large. Simplistic? Boring? If the world wants ridiculous outfits made out of food and light bulbs and trashcans or hair designed to look like a giant martini glass, then damn it, that's what the world is going to get. Like most villains, gadgets take a budget, so after holding up a high fashion show to rob the upper classer's in attendance, she began her true plans: forcing fashion onto an apathetic public.
Plans include firebombing budget clothing stores, slashing bad clothing of people on the streets, and lots of kidnapping. The worst dressed civilians she can find will be kidnapped and forced into her newest designs, complete with bizarre shoes with extra tall heels. Then they will be forced to do a rotation on her catwalk of death, lined with lava and spikes. Only a hero can put an end to this madness.
Of course, heroes tend to be the worst dressed of all, and will particularly draw her ire. At some point I'd love for her to kidnap a hero or their sidekick, sew them by their hideous outfit onto a giant bolt of fabric, and feed that through a three story tall sewing machine in a good old fashioned slow moving death trap. Either the sidekick's hero, or an ally may come to save them, or perhaps her hostage can effect their own escape.
Powers-wise she's all about the gadgets. She has a lipstick that conceals a sewing needle as a hidden weapon, a giant seam ripper as a regular dueling weapon, and other various fashion and sewing themed things like a measuring tape whip, pin cushion grenades, and a needle-and-thread grappling hook. Her outlandish over the top runway outfits are great for hiding a variety to tech goodies, and who knows what else she'll have up her sleeve. Also, robo-mannequin army.

Should she not make the cut as a villain, I'll probably just play her as an Edna Mode, designer for heroes and villains alike.

Skwisgaar Skwigelf, on the other hand, is going to be a hero with a magic guitar called "The Skald". With his magical axe granted to him by Odin, he can fly, shoot lasers, resist all injury, and move with incredible speed... as long as he continues to play. Magical powers granted by wicked guitar solos: it's pretty much going to be a giant 80's metal music video. Probably a touch of the 'upgrade' magic that shows up in those videos too. Boring old lunch? ♪♬ STEAK. Broken down car? ♪♬ BATMOBILE. Angry teacher keeping you down? ♪♬ LAUNCH HIM THROUGH THE ROOF.
His backstory is rather close to his canon history, where he ran from home after walking in on his mother in flagrante delicto. Running through the wilderness of Sweden, he was chased by wolves until he fell down a crevasse. There, in a cave he found a statue of a Norse god with his hand outstretched. There in his stone palm was a Gibson explorer. The difference is, rather than returning home and practicing every day before going through a dozen or more bands and ending up as lead guitar for Dethklok, in this AU the guitar awakens the spirit of Odin, who explains to Skwisgaar that he is his father, that the guitar is a gift to him, and that he should use it for good and justice. Bam, hero time.
