RE: improving tagging speed:

1) Figure out what you think is a satisfactory tagging speed. Give hard numbers, like at least once every 2 days, or within an hour of receiving a tag. For me, I'm happy if I can return someone's tag once a day, but you might hold yourself to a different standard than that. It's good to work this out so you don't always think "Argh I'm so slow!!" even when you've actually been quick.

2) Set yourself a time limit for cranking out tags, and have something to indicate when time's up. I used to use a one hour alarm, and now I use a 50 minute soundtrack specifically for tagging. The time limit forces you to be faster with tags so you don't agonise over them for an unnecessarily long length of time. You don't need to get all your tags done, but you'll likely get more done. I prefer a soundtrack over an alarm since the current song gives me a good idea of how much time I have left.

3) Remove other distractions. Shut off Plurk, Skype, AIM, etc. I don't think I need to say why |3b

Con: I worry that I love negative CR too much, that I can't maintain emotion in a thread as long as he would, and that I'm too slow now.

As far as Zelos' friendships go:

Are friendships ever an obvious journey to begin with? :P
But no, if you're worried about it being OOC, just look over things from a broader perspective. What kind of interactions has he had with other men, and is what Zelos defining as a "friend" in the Lloyd category or just something else entirely? Is he struggling? Is it for appearances? Does he need to be a little more flippant about things simply because of the new reality of having male acquaintances?

I'm rusty on Symphonia canon so I can't really offer a "HERE GO FIX THIS" line of thought or whatever. Just, if you're worried, dig around a little. Zelos is a complex character anyways, and just coming from one of those male CR peeps, he's still pretty aloof and avoidant and awkward sometimes. So it's not like he's suddenly attached to the hip with other men (I'd be really concerned about OOC matters in that case).

IDK, give yourself a little more credit, and do some fine-tuning if it really does bother you. Make it an exercise in exploring Zelos more, rather than "FUCK I'M DOING IT WRONG". :)

Second: Do you have any ways to give a little boost to Jade's voice when he's having a dry spell? Like, example: something I've found that helps with Guy is just having different key moments of his dialogue bookmarked (first introductions, Aramis spring, peace treaty, right before Rem; all LP vids from Youtube, usually) so I can pull them up and have him fresh on the mind when I start feeling a little crappy about his voice.

Pros: I have a decent tagging speed and I've gotten pretty confident with him as a character in just the two and a half months I've been in the bubble with him.

Cons: I don't feel like I'm making him sound British enough such as using British slang (even though he uses very little in-game) and terminology (but again, he doesn't use it that much). I also feel like I make him a little too boring or that he's not snarky/blunt enough a lot of the times.

Pros:

• BACK IN THE GAME. Yes this is a super pro.


• Two straight playthroughs of the game in the month I was gone = best decision ever. His voice is almost always strong and his intentions are a lot clearer, and I have consistent ways to give him boosts now when I'm struggling.


• I don't think I'll ever run out of material for this man. I still don't feel I'm using him to his full potential, but even then I have a list of things I'd still love to do with him in his time in Vatheon, and that makes me very happy.


• Dear god, my CR list.

Cons:

• Guy bottles up a lot - most of his emotions are internal, not necessarily external, and he can be extremely blunt in order to avoid any slip-ups in his composure. I feel like I don't remember this enough, or I project my own line of thinking onto him a little too often (being an incredibly emotional mun) rather than figuring out how he processes things differently.


• Being super selective with my tags YES I AM ADMITTING IT. I need to get out of that habit, otherwise some of my CR isn't going to go anywhere. (I'd like to be called out on this more, honestly.)


• ...ahaha my tagging speed, yeah. I tend to do newer tags first rather than older ones, since getting on a roll is the best way to get me through threads. Problem is, though, that when I have 25 threads going at once, I'll finish up 3 or 4 and leave the rest at the bottom of the inbox for multiple days. So organization/concentration tips in regards to that would be nice. I never truly drop threads without notifying the mun, but with the delays I have, I guess it can appear I'm dropping things all the time.

Unless it's with a mun who's not around very much and the thread won't get finished (ie: someone who doesn't tag for a couple days at a time), I nearly always go from the bottom of my inbox (oldest) to the top, skipping memes for later. The exception to this is three or more person threads, which take priority simply because they move slower and can tie up your rping for weeks if they're important for development, so you don't want to be the one slowing them down if you can help it.

And don't be afraid to talk to muns. If you're doing a friendly nonsense thread with someone and there's a bunch of other plot threads that need your attention, ask them to plot out the end with with you and move on. A lot of the time I find that if a thread is waning, the other mun can tell too and you just need that mutual conversation of "are we done? okay cool."

Lastly, if there's a thread you just really don't want to tag anymore for whatever reason, don't feel badly about dropping it after notifying the mun. Rp is, first and foremost, supposed to be fun so if you're not having fun on some level, I kinda feel like that's 'doing it wrong.'

I'm glad that's gotten across with Guy at least? It's not that I feel it is ooc, I know what Zelos is thinking and I know he's still having a hard time with it considering he has every trust issue in the psychological textbook, but I feel that sometimes I don't type it out as well as I should. For instance, his being a "good boss" for the host club employees or his friendship with Ioder. I know those came from his needing to bolster himself after having a dry spell for so long and from doing Estelle a favor and watching over her cousin respectively, but I worry that I don't get it across in the bracket text.

Or should I even worry about that? Should that be something internalized that'll come out if development reveals it? I really don't know.

Well, would it be obvious to people that didn't know him well enough, or would it just come across as him simply being bold, energetic and a little impulsive in his ideas? Or in the case of Ioder, would the awkwardness of it being a simple favor of respect ever show itself? Is it Zelos' nature to hide that, or would Ioder ever be able to pick up on the fact tha Zelos has more reason behind this friendship than just being friends?

The man is full of facades - what he projects and what he really intends can be two different things without it being "bad". Just trying to hear your processing.
