Hello, Vatheonites! With the poll coming to a close with an outstanding voting turnout rate (seriously, 99 votes? Impressive, guys), it’s looking as though the game is indeed moving to Dreamwidth. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience thus far; we know it’s been a difficult week or two, but thanks for sticking through with it whether you are staying with the game or not.

So now in the interests of making this move a little easier, we’re going to lay out some things in this post.

Setting up

How does community based work?

First off, the poll also indicated that the majority of our players would prefer the game to be community based, and thus we’ll be changing the game. Don’t panic, however! The change should be very smooth and easy, and it will also mean you don’t have to wait to add everyone as a friend before posting! You can start posting right away. As a quick overview for those unfamiliar with community based games, they work much the same way as journal-based, only all posts you would normally make with your characters journal will instead be made in a new network community. That community is

caughtinanetwork, and will be used for all voice/video/text and such posts that would be made from a characters SFC.

vatheon will remain, as always, for open and closed logs. The tagging system will remain the same for both communities as well! So all you’ll need to do on getting onto DW is to join and watch both vatheon and caughtinanetwork and you’ll be all set for IC playing!

You’ll also want to join

vatheonooc (OOC community),

batheon (crack community) and

starfishbucks (Dressing Room) for all of your OOC needs.

Let’s get roleplaying!

Step two! We’ll be throwing up a large mingling log in Vatheon for everyone to get back into the swing of RPing and getting all of that CR you missed out over the course of these few weeks, as well as a CR meme in Batheon for those who’d like to get plotting right away. We definitely encourage you guys to spam away and have some fun!

Of course, you are also always welcome to backdate any entries that would've happened while were in limbo over moving or not. Make sure to tag any entries or logs you make with your character's tag for easy reference when AC time rolls around! Likewise, you're more than welcome to continue tagging threads over on LJ! Whatever suits you guys best.

Dreamwidth, how does it work?

In the interests of making everything easy and smooth to move (because goodness knows we had some trouble figuring out how to set everything up at first too), we’ve compiled some lists and information for the move. If anyone has anything to add, we’d greatly appreciate it! We’re pretty new to DW too, after all.

Starting off, how does one Import one’s journal to DW?

On the DW homepage, you’ll want to hover over Organize, and then click on Import Content. From there, you can select what you want to import! Note, you don’t have to have the same account name to import from that account!

Another note—due to community imports, the strain on DW’s servers has understandably been rather high lately, which is making the importing system a little slow and buggy at times. However, it seems to work with some patience, so here’s hoping!

As for importing Vatheon, comm imports are currently restricted to both paid accounts and to communities with less than 100,000 comments, neither of which Vatheon is (wow, guys, way to be active!). Therefore, importing all of Vatheon’s posts will happen in the future; however, it is not currently one of our priorities, so don’t hesitate in posting and getting started roleplaying again. We’ll take care of the rest!

How do I turn off custom comment pages?

Now this one is a bit different from LJ.

For this one, you’ll want to hover over organize and choose manage account. From there you can click on display and scroll down to find Entry View Style. It should look something like this!

What about everything else?

We’re aware this is a pretty sparse guide; that’s because there are better guides out there for you guys (and for us).

A few other notes

Aside from the Comm move, to streamline things a bit we’ve also decided to make the player contact a locked post on the vatheonooc community. It will be locked to members of the community, but if you are concerned about privacy, only list the information you would like people to see! Please go here to add your information! (You'll have to join the OOC comm first)

Currently, DW registration is open until the end of the year. If you haven’t snagged a journal yet, now would be an excellent time to do so, though we will be obtaining invite codes for those who don’t get the chance.

List-keeping

Alright, this is important! We're going to need all of your new information for the Taken list, Vatheonites. And to make things a bit easier and to remove one more worry, this will count for AC. In other words, if you comment here with this new information, you'll be good to go for this month's AC, so you can hop right back into playing! Please leave the textarea tag; it makes it much easier for us to edit the lists.

Plot

✗ With the Christmas day over and done with, the natives of Vatheon went back to daily lives, taking down all of the decorations and talking about how much fun the foreigners’ holidays are. There might be murmurs of copying that “rabbit holiday” or trying for some other similarly mangled holidays from the foreigners’ worlds. The natives are excited! Can you blame them?

But it seems they got one holiday right, at least.

With the new year approaching, the natives are holding a celebration. Attendance is not at all mandatory, but they’ll be urging you to go up to the island to see the food and the sights, the music and dancing and most of all, the fireworks. They've been chattering about it for awhile now, so all of you have had plenty of time to search for some fancy party clothes. For those not as excited at the prospect of a fancy party? The beach will be open for chilling with a drink and a barbecue--but none of the drinks are spiked this time. Thank goodness.

They were never possible in a bubble below the sea, after all. But now? Now they’re all very excited indeed at the possibility. Keep an eye out for a large mingling log for said party! Here is the log!

✗ An ooc note--feel free to backdate whatever you please in the comm! We know a lot of Christmas plans were disrupted, so go crazy! Just remember to clearly mark that they are backdated.

✗ Curses will resume when everyone is settled into Vatheon, so don’t worry about missing anything in the rush. We won’t do any ~big plot reveals~ until everyone can appreciate them!
