◣ Mod Update ◢

☆ News - - -

TAKEN CHARACTERS, PLAYER CONTACT, RESIDENCY POST, and other things have been updated.
Don't forget to comment to any of the pages if you have yet to do so!

AC is over and we will process the results in the upcoming two days. If there are any problems or questions, now is the time to tell us.

Because of the two week nature of this curse, next Sunday won't have a formal mod update. Regardless, please keep a heads up for any smaller curse related mod posts regarding newly released quests or other matters. As a result this update will have two weeks worth of weather, coral stats and coding.

☆ Plot - - -

✗ Monday morning

Monday morning will find the characters waking up and... something sure is different. Most of them will find themselves in a snazzy new outfit, with a new weapon at their command and sometimes even a new beast at their side. Old powers have been exchanged for new ones, and a quick glance outside will show that Vatheon itself has changed even. The cobble stones seem more cobbly, the NPCs less capable. The whole city looks picturesque, quaint, almost as if it should be rendered in units of one octet wide. And why are there so many random huge jars in the street?

✗ Character classes

As mentioned, your character will wake up on Monday sporting one of the new classes from our character classes. Their normal powers will be sealed, unless those powers are vital to keeping them alive on a day-to-day basis, in which case those powers will function but everything else related will not. Instead, your character will have a new set of skills. What skills is up to you! You can pick from the skill sets provided on the character class page. How many skills are available to start with will depend on the character class.

✗ The other essentials

In addition to their new outfits and weapons, they will also find one badge and one newbie pack. The badge will recite their names, usernames, class and skills. These badges won't be very important, but only characters with a badge can participate in quests. So if your character is not hit by the curse, they cannot take any of the quests. This is to prevent them from becoming unbalanced in terms of power. The newbie pack your character will find will contain potions for restoring their health, namely three (3) HP potions, three (3) MP potions, one (1) stamina potion and one (1) revival potion. If the characters want more potions during this event, they can purchase them at the Potion shop. To pay for them, your character will use gathered quest points. If your character doesn't have quest points yet, we can assume they paid for them using tokens.

Dying? On our watch?

Considering the presence of a revival potion, you might know what that means already: in true classic RPG style, there will be no dying during this event. That is to say, if an enemy defeats your character, they will pass out after which the enemy will leave them alone. At that point they can either be revived by a friend using a revival potion, or if nobody else is near, some nurses will always know when to turn up to whisk the character away to the clinic to patch them up.

✗ A-questing we will go!

So, what is this I heard about quests? Well, these two weeks, Vatheon will be host to its very own quest board! The board can be found over here. We've provided a variety of quests for you to pick from, and your characters will even be rewarded for the proper completion of these quests! They will gain points, and sometimes even an item. More information on the quests can be found on the quest board. Of course, if you really have a different quest idea that you would like to do you could try suggesting it to one of us. We're hoping to update the quest page with a few more different quests later in the week. So if you have a good idea, let's hear it and we can try to include it if possible.

Your character is not forced to do quests. If you want to do something else with them, you are free to! Participating in the quests will lead to a few things though. Hopefully it'll lead to a lot of chance for your characters to interact with friends, both new and old. In addition, the amount of quest points your character will earn during these two weeks will be transferred over into tokens by the end of the curse. Any items they might gain will also remain in your character's possession while keeping their powers. Of course, we cannot guarantee that an anti-wolf pendant is going to be very useful during the rest of their time in Vatheon, but it is still awesome loot.

Finally, there is the matter of the grand big prize. The person who will gain the most quest points during these two weeks will be given the privilege of retrieving one item from their home worlds. We are trying to keep this as unlimited as possible. As long as you are not asking for a character, we will try to make it work. Even if that means zapping your Gundam over onto the island. After the curse is over, we will give people a week to wrap up any stray quests/back date any stuff that still needs completing before we will do a count of each character's points. We will declare the winner based on that, and we'll talk to them about which item they want.

✗ But what about the levelling?

Now, what is an RPG without some levelling? Your character will start out on level one. For every five quests fulfilled they will go up one level. And with each level up they will be able to pick an additional skill. It doesn't matter how difficult the quests are, five quests is five quests.

At first your character will only be able to choose from the first tier skill pool. Once they hit level three (so after completing 10 quests) they will be able to pick second tier skills as well, and once they get to level five (after completing 20 quests) they will be able to access third tier skills. If a character wants to keep levelling after this, they will be able to add more and more skills from the already available tiers. We will put up the full skill lists on Monday or Tuesday. We were hoping to finish them by now, but that clearly did not go as planned! However if you are sitting there thinking "10 quests sounds like a crazy amount", fear not. There are a couple of quests with low requirements (sometimes as low as simply mentioning the quest was carried out in a comment) so everybody should be able to level at least somewhat.

✗ Links

So, as you might have noticed a couple of new pages got created for this event. Let's round them all up here so they don't get lost in all the excitement.

× Character classes - For all information on your character's class and skills.
× Quest board - For all active quests available.
× Quest NPCs - Related to the board, the NPCs created for this event in case you want to contact any of them for a quest.
× Potion shop - The potion shop for all your potion-y needs.

✗ Questions?

And with that our RPG curse is live. Remember, this thing will be ongoing for two weeks! First of all, please make sure that if anything is unclear to please ask. This is a lot of stuff and it is always possible something doesn't quite make sense. So if that happens, please use the designated area for asking questions. No need to worry, there is no such thing as a dumb question.

As always, this curse is entirely optional. Make sure to tag all entries with the !curse: 41 - RPG tag!

( As always, if there are any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to post below or contact Dees, Mandie, Pan, or Ten! )
