mod update | 09/02/2012

NEWS

✗ TAKEN CHARACTERS, PLAYER CONTACT, RESIDENCY POST, and other things have been updated. Don't forget to comment to any of the pages if you have yet to do so!

✗ Applications have concluded and this month's Activity Check is currently ongoing, so be sure to comment if you haven't yet; as always, a Danger List will go up on the 5th.

✗ Last week we already brought you the fortuitous tidings of Tabris joining our mod team to help out with applications. But this week we got an even better scoop. After a long negotiation, that went on for at least five lines, we are proud to inform you that Nik has been added to the modding squad. That's right, we got some new shark bait around here. Nik will be helping us out on a full-time basis, so any questions, concerns, or other modly needs you might have, you can level at her too. And a round of applause.

For now we are keeping the number at three full-time mods and one application mod, but if we notice we're still a little short handed, we intend to use the rest of the submitted mod applications to possible add another person to our roster. But as they say, we'll see how it goes. Thank you to everybody that applied. It means a lot to us!

PLOT

✗ Precisely at midnight on Sunday, curse 32 and all traces thereof will disintegrate - the damage and consequences that may have resulted from said curse might not disappear as easily, but that's not our problem. Otherwise, the bubble is more or less back to normal. Outside the bubble is another story...

✗ On the island this week, there is a peculiar local unidentifiable yet standing out due his large fisherman's hat. But even more peculiar and standing out would be the fact that the local is guarding a line of simple boats on the sand close but not too close to the shore. The peculiarities don't stop there, considering half of the beach seems to be absolutely covered in sand dollars. The local will completely ignore any characters and won't engage in any conversation aside from pointing at the mass amount of sand dollars. If you happen to indulge the man and bring him a sand dollar, it turns out that he'll let you borrow one of his boats. Of course, there are a few twists should either of these actions be taken.

ONE ▼ Anytime and everytime you attempt to pick up a sand dollar you are at risk of picking one that might explode. This is discerned by whether a sand dollar is either scorching hot or fucking freezing; each is either one temperature or the other. The icy ones will not explode, but they are incredibly hard to hold for very long. The hot ones will not only burn you if you spend too much time with them, but will also explode after about 10 seconds once touched - no deadly explosions, but they're still physically dangerous and if not disposed of properly will set off surrounding exploding sand dollars. Setting off too many in one place will cause the sand in that area to collapse, leaving potential for a character to resultingly get caught in the landslide and end up in a rather deep sand pit. So good luck with that.

TWO ▼ Bring the man a really cold sand dollar, and he'll lend you a boat. There are a few problems with this arrangement, however - you can only row out so far before you hit an incredibly forceful barrier. Not only will it knock your boat back a few feet in a jolt (hopefully you're not standing up), but it will also likely spring a few holes in your boat - they're not very well made. Oops. So long as you're not rowing out too far, you might not have a problem - but as said before, the boats are not very well made at all.

The local will be up there all week, but only in the early mornings. By the end of the week, all the sand dollars will mysteriously vanish and he'll be leaving along with all of his boats. Seems like he was only sticking around for some weird sand dollar season? Who knows.

All local interaction is handwaved, as he will not engage or react to anything but sand dollars and will respond to sand dollars in the same way every time - with a smile and the offering of a rope connected to one of his boats.

✗ In other news, our hackers will have managed to crack theirselves some more information. This week seems to be a good one in the information department, too. Check here for the third week's results. Again, keep in mind that the information is not public until the player of the hacker character chooses to make it public via a post. If you are uncertain whether something has been made public or not, you can always check with the mun(s) in question.

As always, if there are any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to post below or contact Dees, Thorny, or Nik!
