Hi folks! My name's skarme, I'm totally new round these parts and here's my contribution to the flood of intro posts. :D
The character I bring with me is this guy, Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist! Though possibly not as you know him, seeing as he's taken from the 2003 anime instead of the manga/Brotherhood - which has various implications for his backstory and characterisation, but by far the most important difference is that he's shorter.
If you don't know him? Take your standard hot-blooded shounen hero, add an actual brain, then pile a few years of emotional trauma onto him and see what's left afterwards. You won't necessarily get an arrogant science geek with two prosthetic limbs, a Napoleon complex and the ability to reshape matter on a whim by clapping his hands, but it's a good start. Also, if he's dressed like he just walked out of the 1920s, that's because he did - 1920s Germany, to be more specific. It's a long story.
