Hi guys! I'm Mirr, and I'm new to Vatheon--I brought in this guy, Ghirahim, er, Demon Lord Ghirahim, from Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He's such a fabulous little psychopath~

He's probably a walking spoiler for Skyward Sword, but I'll try to keep the massive spoilers to a minimum for a while, and label them when they do show up. It's nice to meet you all and I hope to have fun here with everyone!

Nah, they were having a blast. I was the one holding the camera, and we were all three horsing around. :3 (I was Skyward Sword Link, buuut I don't have any pictures with Ghirahim uploaded yet.)

I'm putting a Skyward costume together myself. 8> Did you just order the master sword replica, or...? /sewing mostly everything else

Yeah, I ordered the sword online. Be careful if you decide to go that route. The one I got when I ordered it was defective, hilt mounted crooked on the sword and the wood sheath cracked. I had no time to return it, or I would have. My own fault for throwing this together at the last minute.

Out of curiosity, what are you going to do for the chain mail?

Okay. What was the name of the company so I can avoid that particular one? (I hope it wasn't a Nintendo Official. ._.)

I found a tutorial on Youtube that shows you how to make chainmail from plastic binding, like what is threaded through spiral notebooks. :D Clipped into links and woven like actual chainmail used to be woven.

It was Rival Swords. Fortunately, con photographs are kind to things like that. I highly doubt anyone noticed.

Oh, I saw that tutorial. I totally would have done that if I had more time, but I only decided about a month in advance that I wanted to cosplay Link. There just wouldn't have been enough time. My sister knows how to knit, though, so she knitted sleeves and a skirt (knit one row, purl the next) and then I plastered it with silver spray paint and pinned it under the tunic.

The boots I bought locally some years back for another costume. The belt I found at Target on clearance. The gloves I found on Etsy.com and cut off the fingers when I got them. The baldric sword belt I found over on Amazon. For the extra strap that Link has on that thing, though, I got a belt blank from a crafts store called Hobby Lobby, painted it with acrylic paint to match the sword belt, cut to fit, and used heavy duty snaps to attach it. I made the leather pouches and the bracers by hand. The bracers are actually painted leather with three heavy duty snaps that you can't see in this picture.

Note on painting leather: It's better to add a little bit of synthetic oil to the acrylic paint to give it a little more flexibility.

I paid a little extra to have them tinted to match my skin color, and I also bought flesh latex to blend the seam between my ear and the prosthetic. The flesh latex also acts as a glue, so no need for spirit gum. Just apply it in layers, allowing to dry in between, to build up enough latex to make a smooth transition. Some make-up (preferably costume type that won't cause the latex to deteriorate) may be needed to adjust the color of the flesh latex.
